Clinical Specialties
Dr. De Roo is a fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon. She has specific expertise in the surgical treatment of colon cancer, rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), diverticulitis, pelvic floor disorders, and other benign conditions affecting the colon, rectum, and anus. Her practice includes minimally invasive surgical techniques including laparoscopy, robotic surgery and transanal minimally invasive surgery.
Research Interests
Dr. De Roo’s research focuses on shared decision making and patient-reported outcomes after colorectal surgery. Her current research aims to improve pre-operative communication and optimize post-operative recovery through better understanding of patients’ disease-specific and lifespan-specific needs and risks.
