Welcome Dr. Meeghan Lautner to the Division of Surgical Oncology!

The Department of Surgery is pleased to welcome Dr. Meeghan Lautner as Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Lautner’s clinical practice will be based primarily at University Hospital, where she will participate in the breast surgical oncology program. Additionally, she will build a research program, contribute to student, resident, and fellow education, and help develop outreach clinics for the UW Health Breast Center program.

Dr. Lautner earned her MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI, and an MSc in Clinical Investigations from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in Texas, where she also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship and a general surgery residency. Finally, she completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. On finishing her training, Dr. Lautner held faculty positions in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center and, most recently, in the Department of Surgery at the University at Buffalo in New York.

Beyond her training and clinical experience, Dr. Lautner has contributed significantly to program development and leadership. She has served as a Surgeon Champion with the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program and a Cancer Liaison Physician for the Commission on Cancer Accreditation at Buffalo General Medical Center. We eagerly anticipate her contributions to our goal of building programs to advance patient care.
