Dr. Paul DiMusto and vascular surgery resident Dr. Alex Leung recently traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as part of the Division of Vascular Surgery’s ongoing partnership and global health rotation. While there, they helped local surgeons perform the hospital’s first lower extremity angioplasty. Dr. DiMusto also gave a multidisciplinary grand rounds on carotid endarterectomy to help launch their program.

“Being able to partner with our colleagues in Addis Ababa has been a very rewarding experience,” Dr. DiMusto said. “This was my fourth trip to Addis Ababa and I have been able to see steady progress made with each trip.  In addition to helping them start a fellowship training program, it has been a great experience to have our vascular surgery trainees also share their knowledge and experience. They also are able to see some conditions and operations that are rare in Wisconsin, in addition to learning how to manage vascular disease in an environment with limited resources.”
