Rebecca M. Minter, MD, MBA, is the A.R. Curreri Distinguished Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Prior to her move to the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Minter held successive leadership roles at the University of Texas Southwestern and the University of Michigan, including serving as Chief of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Section/Division at both institutions, Associate Chair of Education at the University of Michigan, and Vice Chair of Finance and Clinical Operations at UT Southwestern.

Clinical Specialties
Dr. Minter is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Her clinical practice is focused in the area of pancreas surgery. She has a particular interest in the management and treatment of pancreatic cancer and pre-malignant conditions of the pancreas. Dr. Minter is recognized as a clinical leader in her field and is a past president of the Americas Hepatopancreatobiliary Association, and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the International Hepatopancreatobiliary Association.
Research Interests
Dr. Minter’s research efforts are focused in two areas – the early detection of pancreatic cancer and the development of novel training paradigms for Surgery. She and her collaborators are focused on the development of novel multi-omic diagnostics for the early detection of pancreatic cancer in high risk patient populations, and on the development of training frameworks which explicitly define progressive entrustment and the development of autonomy during surgical training. Dr. Minter holds national leadership positions in multiple societies in recognition of her work in the field of surgical education and academic surgery, and is a past president of the Society of University Surgeons and the Fellowship Council and the current Vice Chair of the American Board of Surgery Board of Directors.
